MadeToPrint Illustrator CS3-CS5 available for Enfocus Switch

Berlin – 7 June 2012 - axaio software, developer of solutions for PDF creation, printing and content correction workflows for the publishing, packaging and printing markets, announces the availability of MadeToPrint Illustrator CS3-CS5 for Enfocus Switch, providing unprecedented output standardization and control for workflows handling Illustrator documents.

MadeToPrint & Enfocus Switch – the perfect automation solution for publishing and packaging workflows

Creative and production teams in packaging and publishing environments invest a lot of time and effort in optimizing and enhancing document output from design software such as Adobe® Illustrator. They often struggle with output flaws, misprints and time loss. MadeToPrint Illustrator for Switch solves these issues by extending, enhancing, and streamlining printing and output processes from within the layout application through a Switch flow.

MadeToPrint, the plugin that allows hands-off, standardized output from Adobe® Illustrator CS3-CS5, has been upgraded to integrate seamlessly with Enfocus Switch offering highly customizable print and export automations of Illustrator documents. Configurators allow MadeToPrint Illustrator to be integrated as a component in Switch (work)flows via drag-and-drop. Selecting a print job, MadeToPrint controls the print and data output directly from Switch. Using the build-in MadeToPrint configurators, Switch users can automatically create standardized and reliable PDF output without having to open Adobe® Illustrator documents manually.

MadeToPrint Illustrator provides options like preflighting documents, checking and updating them for missing links or fonts, dynamic definition of file and folder names using tokens, batch processing and individual layer handling. MadeToPrint combines time consuming individual steps – such as proofing, printing and creating PDFs of varying resolutions before finally archiving –
into one single job, completed all together in one go. Users can now execute jobsets to simultaneously control any number of output. As such, MadeToPrint can handle multiple tasks and output combinations efficiently and with ease. All jobsets are saved centrally and can be used by all employees. This way consistent results are guaranteed. Especially in complex packaging layout processes, MadeToPrint helps to speed up reliable output.

MadeForLayers as part of MadeToPrint Illustrator – the ideal tool for packaging workflows

When handling specialized documents in multiple languages and versions or when working with packaging output, the production processes need to be as efficient and reliable as possible.

Christian Blaise, founder of the consultancy bleuprocess and co-chair of the GWG Packaging: “In the Packaging Industry, it is very common to deal with multiple versions of a same document, such as languages, flavors or local adaptions. Therefore, layers are used a lot in packaging documents to isolate the different contents. When combining languages and roles (marketing, packaging technologist, consumer service, etc.) in a file, it can just be a nightmare to manage during the workflow. The ability of axaio MadeToPrint and MadeForLayers to easily create and apply on-the-fly different layers combinations saves us a lot of time and offers a reliability of the different versions of the same file that we never had before. Much more, axaio MadeToPrint, when driven by Enfocus Switch, can seamlessly output and route the correct version of the document to the correct person in the revision process, completely automatically. Managing versions has never been so easy!”

In a typical packaging workflow, various people need to review, comment and approve different design and technical versions. Generating and keeping track of all of these versions can turn out to be a logistical nightmare. To make sure that everyone sees just the information they need, the source Illustrator document must be organized with the proper technical, marketing or legal layer views. MadeForLayers brings the solution for packaging service providers. MadeForLayers is a plug-in for InDesign and Illustrator that streamlines and simplifies the creation of layer-heavy documents by combining different layers into logical layer views. Switching between different technical or language versions of one document can now be done with a single mouse-click and with the certainty that all correct layers for the specific version have been included. With MadeForLayers as part of MadeToPrint Illustrator, the different layer views can automatically be printed or exported to the desired format, instantly creating output for all different language, regional or technical versions without any chance of mistakes. Each layer view can be converted to a separate output file in any of the file formats supported by Illustrator. It is also possible to export a single PDF file compliant with the latest ISO PDF/X-4 standard containing all different layer views.
