MadeForLayers simplifies editing of complex documents

axaio MadeForLayers is a plug-in for Adobe InDesign and Adobe Illustrator that helps streamlining and simplifying the creation and editing of complex documents. It saves design time and reduces human errors while working with layer-heavy documents. Additionally axaio has included the MadeForLayers functionality into its flagship product MadeToPrint, for an even more flexible document version export.

Why working with layers views?

When creating complex documents in InDesign or Illustrator, it is important to build your document in an organized manner. Whether you want to create multiple versions of a single document or you want to build incredible complex artwork, working with layers and layer views can be very helpful for controlling and keeping track of the creation and production of complex documents.

When preparing different document views for the production flow, error-prone and time-consuming manual procedures often result in misprints or time delays. Generating and keeping track of various document versions can be a logistical nightmare. Organizing the source Illustrator or InDesign document with the proper technical, marketing or legal layer views allows for all working teams to see only the information they need in order to review, comment or approve a version of the document.

MadeForLayers for efficient layer organization

When working with layer-heavy documents, axaio MadeForLayers makes it possible to combine different layers into layer views. Logical layer views help to streamline working with documents that contain multiple language versions, regional variants or different editorial content. In packaging environments, you can clearly differ between multiple technical as well as various design layers.

axaio MadeForLayers allows to do document editing with layers views a lot quicker. Once the logical layer views has been defined, switching between layer views while editing can be done easily with one mouse-click.

Each defined layer view can be applied to new or existing documents. A specific layer view – containing layer names and metadata definitions – can be set as the default document view determining which layer will be visible when opening the document. New layer views can be created from the currently visible layers and can be adjusted at any time. This way, the document structure can be standardized and production automation can be enabled thanks to metadata definitions added to layers.

As part of MadeToPrint for a consistent output automation

In combination with axaio MadeToPrint, all different versions of a publication can automatically be exported or printed with the standardized settings and without risk of mixing up content in complex documents. With the output finesse of axaio MadeToPrint you can easily create either one master PDF file containing all the different layer views or one PDF file for each layer view.
