New technology: axaio insIDe CS3 for in-depth analyses of InDesign documents

axaio introduces insIDe, a new technology especially designed for analyzing and inventoring InDesign CS3 documents. insIDe provides a thorough and at the same time quick view into the depth of InDesign documents. It is not a new commercial product but a new technology that is available as of now as Beta test version to interested users. InDesign CS3 users who wish to test the insIDe technology can do this free-of-charge by emailing to info@axio.com and requesting the download links for the Beta version.

In the near future, the review approach implemented in insIDe will find its way into the axaio product range either as addition to existing products or as part of new solutions. Currently available as a Plug-In for InDesign CS3, insIDe supports OS X and Win XP/Vista: The tool analyzes and takes stock of a vast number of document items and properties, including images, graphics, fonts and frames, pages and samples, text sections, page objects, layers and grids

insIDe thoroughly reviews the actual InDesign format, which benefits the performance: even extensive documents with hundreds of pages are screened within seconds. Furthermore, the Plug-in provides a user-friendly interface and quickly combinable inventory profiles – those who want to know exactly what is in the depth of their documents can look into to it with isnIDe. The variety of information recorded in insIDe can be displayed clearly and well arranged by means of eleven different views. These views include fonts, text styles and frames, page objects and layers. Certain test properties, which insIDe offers as pre-configured lists, can be added to each view. The view “Image” can be determined, for example, by the properties image name, type, status, color space, color channel, spot colors, resolution, width, height, scaling and position.

To easily get started, a selection of pre-configured views is provided. These views can be edited just like new profiles, saved by name, or deleted. When insIDe has screened an InDesign document with a view, all hits are listed line-wise in an event window. Double clicking on a line causes insIDE to jump to the corresponding place in the document (Snap View). In addition, images and text sections are displayed in previews within the result window.

Results displayed can be saved per mouse click in the clipboard or exported as simple text file, thus allowing to document or forward results to third parties quickly. Clicking on the „info“ button opens a separate window listing the most important file information, including the document title, number of images that were used, modified, or are missing, total number of pages, words and paragraphs
